A suspicious man is shot in front of the police officers who wanted to arrest him. His last word: Scylla. It is the name of a powerful crime syndicate involved in trafficking in women, art theft, drugs and baby smuggling. Chief Inspector Ruard Talsma and Public Prosecutor Adrienne Rieding jointly lead Unit 13, the special investigation team formed to round up Scylla. The team, ranging from undercover agents to computer analysts, uses all possible and sometimes unorthodox means to get a grip on Scylla. However, the criminal organization gets wind of Unit 13's activities and does not hesitate to personally intimidate the members of the team. Adriënne Rieding in particular has to suffer when her husband Paul is seriously injured in an attack that was actually aimed at her. And how does Scylla obtain information that is only known within the team?
Unit 13 was a popular Dutch police series from the 1990s. The series was broadcast by VARA from October 12, 1996 to January 2, 1999 and regularly attracted more than a million viewers. This series showed a realistic view of organized crime, had a critical view of Dutch politics in particular and was loosely based on, among other things, the IRT affair.
