Office of the local commander

At this location is the office of the local commander, the "Ortscommander" established. The house was designed by the Antwerp architect Jan Pieter van Baurscheidt de Jonge and built in 1765 as a city palace for the Zeeland regent Johan Adriaan van de Perre. The building therefore bears the name 'Van de Perrehuis'. The house was built on the foundations of a former commandery of the Teutonic Order. From 1838 to 1876 the building was used by the provincial court in Zeeland and from 1867 to 1995 it served as a district court.
