The Land of the Teletubbies
Teletubbies - 2 locationsSituated in the rolling hills of the English countryside, Sweet Knowle Farm is a seemingly ordinary farmhouse near the village of Wimpstone. But between 1997 and 2001, this rustic landscape transformed into the colourful, otherworldly home of the Teletubbies. It was here that the iconic outdoor scenes for the children’s programme were filmed, which became a cultural phenomenon worldwide. The recognisable green hill, with its round doors and perfectly mown lawns, was specially created on a farm’s meadow. Although the set has since disappeared and the terrain has returned to its natural state, the location remains a beloved pilgrimage site for fans from all over the world who want to catch a glimpse of where Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po once spent their days. Fun fact: The puddle in the middle of the set – often seen in the background – was an actual body of water, creating unexpected reflections and occasionally getting the crew wet feet. Although the site is privately owned and not open to the public, Sweet Knowle Farm remains a piece of television history hidden away in the heart of Warwickshire.
